Kayler & Simon - November 2013

by Jamie Carl | January 25, 2016 at 8:00 am
So, I've been out of the game for a little while now, but the cool thing about having a few photos to show for my short time in the wedding photography game is that I still get a chance to shoot the odd wedding for friends.  I usually hook them up and do it for "free".  Free being a relative term because there are still some consumables that have to be paid for.  I don't get complaints though as my friends know they're getting a bargain. ;)

Nathan's Widebody Supra

by Jamie Carl | February 17, 2012 at 7:49 am
Hi all.  I know it's been a while since my last post.  I haven't really been doing much shooting lately after having moved interstate.  Photography is basically on hold till life gets back on track.

I shot a horse (with a camera of course)...

by Jamie Carl | August 13, 2011 at 11:08 am
A few months back I showed off a few photos I took of Stevie the horse while he was competing at a local dressage event here in Canberra, and he was a cheeky guy even then in such a formal environment.  Well, a couple of weeks ago I got the opportunity to head out to where Stevie lives and take some photos of him having a play.  It was freezing cold and almost raining, but we managed to get some half decent photos that show just what a playful personality Stevie has.

New portfolio website...

by Jamie Carl | July 11, 2011 at 8:57 pm
It's been in the making for some time now.  Slaving away on nights, just like this one, to produce what I hope will be one of the smoothest, cleanest image portfolio experiences you've seen for a while.  That's right, I've launched my new website and it's jam-packed full of photos, javascript, HTML tricks and CSS goodness.  Almost all the things I love in life.  If I could figure out how to upload my partner, Justine, to the website, it would be all of the things I love.
Visit www.jamiecarl.com.au to check it out. And as always.  Mum.... I hope you like it. :)

Stevie the horse....

by Jamie Carl | June 28, 2011 at 7:59 am
I'm always up for trying something new.  So when I was asked if I could take some photos of a horse by a friend of Justine's, I was definitely up for it.  That's when I met the cheeky, mischievous,  Stevie the horse.

End of life...

by Jamie Carl | June 21, 2011 at 5:45 am
As an automotive photographer I'm always photographing nice shiny cool looking cars that are never really that old.  To date the oldest cars I've photographed are a few Fords from the 1970's.  Because of this, you never really think about what happens to a car once it's glory days are over.  So when I was told that a few friends would be heading down to a well known wreckers in Cooma called Flynn's Wrecking Yard with the Canberra Celica Group, I just had to tag along....

Some new gear...

by Jamie Carl | April 23, 2011 at 4:06 pm
My two favorite lenses are my Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8.  These two are my 'work horse' lenses and I do most of my shoot using them, the 24-70 more so.  It's basically my 'go to' lens.  For a while now I've wanted to get the Nikon 14-24 f/2.8 lens to complete the 'holy trinity' as it's known, but I have always had better things to spend money on.  Recently I managed to save enough to get one and now I can't remember what I ever did without it.

Wireless Tethering - The next level...

by Jamie Carl | April 13, 2011 at 9:02 pm

Hello!  It's been a while!  How are you?  Hope you are well...

Ok, now that the pleasantries are out of the way, I have something really exciting to show you guys.  A while back I wrote an article showing off something I was working on to help with the motion shots in my automotive photography.  Some of you may remember my 'Wireless Tethering' device.  Yes, we all know it's an oxymoron, but that's what makes this so damn cool.  Well, I've recently updated it and it's now even cooler, not to mention more practical.

Back online! (sorta)

by Jamie Carl | December 16, 2010 at 4:35 am
Well, after what has seemed like an eternity, this website is now back online. The delay was thank to Internode, who confirmed my ADSL2 service as delilverable, then on the day it was meant to go active and nothing happened, I called up to find out that they are unable to deliver my ADSL2 service. They then wanted me to wait 2 more weeks to hook up ADSL1, so I went back to iiNet. They still haven't finished provisioning my ADSL service, but at least they communicate better and have a temporary dial-up account I can use to get my email back online.
So yes, this website is being hosted on dial-up. So yes, it's painfully slow, mainly because the backlog of emails I've been sent are finally coming in.
Please bare with me while we get everything back online after the big move.
Thanks.
